The Last of Us Season 2

The Last of Us Season 2 is confirmed and will continue to follow the plot of the game closely.

The series, which follows Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey) on a cross-country trip to find a cure for a deadly fungal infection, was a smash hit for HBO, setting viewership records and keeping fans of the original video game content with its faithful retelling of the dark, emotional story.

The second season will have significant implications for those familiar with the game's plot, particularly the events that transpire between Joel and Ellie in the second installment.

Pedro Pascal has indicated that season 2 will stay true to the game, potentially spanning two seasons. He stated, “It wouldn’t make sense to follow the first game so faithfully only to stray severely from the path.”

The series' creators, Neil Druckmann and Craig Mazin, have expressed that they don't feel constrained by the source material and that the show will have something for everyone, from newcomers to devoted fans of the video game series.

They also plan to keep Bella Ramsey as the lead for season 2, despite some criticism from internet trolls.

As of now, the majority of the second season will be filmed in Vancouver. The creators have also hinted at the possibility of the show continuing beyond just two or three seasons, potentially introducing original stories set in other cities beyond the material from the game.

However, as of June 2023, the second season of The Last of Us hasn't yet gone into production, so it will be quite some time before there's any new content.

The exact release date is still unconfirmed, but it is scheduled to be released in 2025. So we have a long wait ahead of us!

What Are Clickers In The Last of Us?

Clickers are one of the types of infected enemies that players encounter in the game and in the tv show. They are named for the distinct clicking sound they make due to the fungal infection that has taken over their body.

The infection is caused by a mutated strain of the Cordyceps fungus, which has jumped from insects to humans. In the game's post-apocalyptic setting, this fungus is responsible for the downfall of civilisation.

Clickers are at the third stage of the infection, following the initial infected stage and the Runner stage. By the time infected individuals become Clickers, the Cordyceps fungus has significantly altered their physical appearance.

The fungus grows over the face, rendering the infected blind. However, this loss of sight is compensated by a form of echolocation, which allows them to navigate their surroundings using sound, much like bats. This echolocation is the source of their clicking sound.

Clickers are more dangerous and aggressive than Runners. They are also tougher, able to withstand more damage before being taken down.

A bite from a Clicker is instantly fatal, making them a significant threat in the game.
